Industry Notes:

Circle June 6 On Your Compliance Calendar

Inpatient hospices need to be ready for some COVID-19 blanket waivers to end in a few short weeks.

Reminder: In a memo to State Survey Agencies last month, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services noted it plans to eliminate certain “emergency declaration blanket waivers” for inpatient hospices and other facilities like skilled nursing facilities and hospitals (see HCW by , Vol. XXXI, No. 14).

For inpatient hospices, that means the affected waivers will end on June 6, note attorney Conor O. Duffy and legal intern Erin Howard at law firm Robinson+Cole in Hartford, Conn. The waivers include those related to provisions on Life Safety Code Facility and Medical Equipment Inspection, Testing & Maintenance (ITM) and Outside Windows and Doors, Duffy and Howard note in online analysis.
