As of Jan. 1, you shouldn't use occurrence code 42
on your hospice claims when the beneficiary moves without a transfer, HHH MAC CGS reminds hospices in its December newsletter for providers. In this scenario, the hospice benefit period will update with a termination date equal to the "TO" date on the claim, and a revocation indicator will post, CGS explains.
Hospices also shouldn't use OC 42 when a patient transfers to another hospice or when a patient is discharged for cause, CGS adds.
